Device Used to Convert Semi-Automatic Weapon into Fully Automatic Weapon Found

POLICE officers yesterday made an eye-popping discovery at LaBourne, Monchy during an exercise that involved various units from the Northern and Central Division of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.

The lawmen discovered seven auto sears, which are selector switches – device used to convert a semi-automatic weapon into a fully automatic weapon, on the premises of Gaspar Paul and Justin La Compte. Both were apprehended for Possession of Prohibited Component Parts of a Weapon.

The operation, which focused was the north of the island, involved the execution of seven search warrants. Officers arrested eight individuals in the process.

An execution of Search Warrants on the premises of Prince Nelson of La Bourne, Monchy, Neillan Melius of Boguis and Lec Alphonse of Chassin, Babonneau, revealed nothing of evidential value, but they were all arrested on Commitment Warrants for failing to pay a court fine for firearm convictions stemming from 2021.

A Search Warrant was also executed on the premises of James Daren Elivique of Balata, Castries.  Nothing of evidential value was recovered but James Elivique was arrested for the Offence of Burglary.
