VIEUX Fort police, Wednesday arrested, 36-year-old Bruceville resident, Nigel Hippolyte while responding to a report of stealing at an establishment.
According to police, upon arrival at the scene they noticed a male individual in the alley near the establishment behaving in a suspicious manner. The male individual attempted to flee the area but was accosted by the officers.
A search on his person, revealed a 9mm pistol and one magazine containing 15 rounds of 9mm calibre ammunition.
The individual, identified as Hippolyte, was subsequently arrested for the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition without a Valid Licence. He was arrested after failing to produce a valid Firearm User Licence.
Police say that the individual involved in the report of Stealing was also arrested.
Hippolyte was charged for the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. He was taken before the Magistrate’s Court where he was granted bail in the sum of twenty thousand dollars for Possession of Firearm and ten thousand dollars for possession of ammunition.
The matter was adjourned to Tuesday, 9th January 2024.
