Suspects Nabbed in Relation to Homicide Cases

POLICE are reporting the death of an elderly man from an earlier incident that occurred on August 5 at Mon Repos, Micoud.

Reports state that on August 5 Peter Joseph, 74, of Mon Repos, suffered injuries from an altercation with another male individual. At the time, Joseph was conveyed to the St. Jude Hospital and was kept under observation for treatment.

On August 15, law enforcement officers from the Micoud Police Station were informed by medical personnel from the St. Jude Hospital that Peter Joseph had succumbed to his injuries,while in care.

Meanwhile, on August 23, a post-mortem examination revealed that Joseph died due to blunt force trauma to the head.

Consequently, on August 23, police arrested and charged Thomas Stephen alias “Jaguar”, 60, of Mon Repos for the murder of Joseph. Stephen is currently remanded in custody in relation to that matter.

Law enforcement has charged another man in connection with the 2022 triple homicide that occurred on February 22, at La Toc Road, Castries.

Last October, a resident of Bois Patat, Castries, and Junior Herman, a resident of Odlum City, Castries, were charged with causing the deaths of Samantha Eugene, Constant Thomas and Elisha Thomas, at La Toc, Castries.

On August 23, Shem Bennett, a resident of Odlum City, Castries was arrested for the offences of Murder and Participation in a Gang to Commit an Indictable Offence to wit: Murder, in connection with the deaths of Constant Thomas, Samantha Eugene and Elisha Thomas.

On August 29, Bennet was charged with the triple murders. He was presented before the Magistrate’s Court for bail and was subsequently remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.

In the latest developments, law enforcement officers have confiscated an illegal firearm and arrested four suspects during a search operation at Fond Manger, Marigot last Friday (August 25).

According to police sources, the operation was conducted as a result of proactive measures being taken to mitigate growing public concerns over criminal activity in the Fond Manger, Marigot area.

During the operation, officers executed a Warrant to Search for Property at a residential structure and discovered and confiscated one, 9mm pistol with a magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition. The officers also arrested four male individuals (two adults and two juveniles) who were present at the time the warrant was executed. The suspects are Ronell Amedee, 30, of Fond Manger, Marigot, Shaquan Hippolyte, 19, of Fond Manger, and two juveniles also of Fond Manger, Marigot.

On Monday (August 28) police pressed charges against the four individuals for Possession of a Firearm without a valid licence and Possession of Ammunition. They were subsequently presented before the Magistrate’s court for bail and their bail conditions have been set, as follows:

– The two juveniles were released into the custody of their respective parents.

– In relation to the charges for Possession of a Firearm without a valid licence, Ronell Amedee and Shaquan Hippolyte, were bailed in the sum of XCD20,000.00 each, with cash or suitable surety

– For the charge of Possession of Ammunition, bail was set at XCD3500.00 each, with cash or suitable surety.
