Saint Lucia Establishes Diplomatic relations with Sierra Leone

Saint Lucia on Wednesday established diplomatic relations with the West African state of Sierra Leone.

Signing on behalf of Saint Lucia was External Affairs Minister Alva Baptiste. The diplomatic engagement took place in the margins of the 78th Session of the UN’s General Assembly debate.

In his discussions with the Foreign Minister of Sierra Leone, Musa Timothy Kabba, Baptiste stated that the agreement represented the commencement of deeper relations between the people of Saint Lucia and their African brothers and sisters on the Continent. Baptiste also signed agreements for diplomatic relations with the European countries of Liechtenstein and Andorra and the Central Asian State of The Kyrgz Republic.

On September 18, he held discussions with the Foreign Minister of Ghana, H.E Shirley Ayorko Botchweyz, and it was agreed that Saint Lucia and Ghana would work toward the conclusion of a cooperation agreement between the two countries.
