On Sunday August 27, the Saint Lucia Football Association [SLFA] Inc. kicked off its U-10 and U-17 football competition at the Technical Center, in Grande Riviere, Dennery.
After some exciting play in the opening rounds, the results were as follows –
Under-10:
DCYO edged out VSADC 1 – 0 with a goal from
Jermal Joseph in the 22nd min, while Black Panthers enjoyed a comfortable 5 – 1 victory against Valley Soccer, with goals from Abayomi Cazaubon 3rd and 21st minute, Dilra Cherubin 35th and 3rd min of added-on time, and Etan Whiteway’s 1st min of added-on time in the first half.
Darvin Charles scored for Valley Soccer Academy in the 14th min.
Under-17:
Shamballa Shiloh defeated Challengers 4-2.
Scoring for the victors were Marvrick Hutchinson, Obafami Poyotte, Forbes Charles and Ngozi Marcellin in the 15th, 20th, 50th, and 73rd. min
Respectively. Myles Brandis 53rd. and Cassian Jn. Baptiste 70th min scored for Challengers.
Following a 2 all first-half deadlock, GMC pulled off as runaway winners to defeat New Generations 7 – 3. GMC’s goal scorers were Josh George with a beaver trick in the 43rd, 63rd, 69th and 74th min; Mekah Stanislaus had a brace in the 9th and 57th min and Mikel Castang 68th min.
Shevon Byron scored a hat-trick for New Generations with goals in the 1st, 13th, and 61st min.
DCYO got past Piton Travel Young Stars 4 – 0 with a hat-trick from Makary Emile and goals in the 4th, 14th, and 38th min, and Eli Prospere 40th min.
Black Panthers went on a goal-spree to demolish Black Eagles 9 – 0. Eymani Butcher scored a beaver trick with goals in the 6th, 16th, 18th, and 35th min; Eugenin Faustin a brace in the 55th and 76th min, Tevez Brandis 13th, Solomon Edward 85th min, and an own goal by Aerman Mathurin in the 13th min.
Meanwhile, matches continued in the SLFA’s Inc. Island Premier Cup, last Wednesday (August, 23).
On home grounds, Desruisseaux edged out Vieux Fort North 1-0, to continue their fine run in the competition thus far. Dwight Preudhomme scored the lone goal for V-Fort North in the 14th min.
At Soufriere, Gros Islet defeated Laborie 5 – 0 with goals from Nictus Laurence 7th, N Emmanuel 32nd, Baggio Edward 66th, Aaron Richard 77th, and Raphael Joseph 75th min.
Dennery got past Canaries 2-0 with goals from Newton Marshall and Ridel Stanislaus in the 4th and 85th min respectively.
At the Dennery Playing Field, Mabouya Valley beat Vieux Fort South 2 – 0 with goals from Nathaniel Noel 27th and Altan Joseph in the 3rd min.
La Clery outplayed Choiseul 5 – 2. For La Clery, the goal scorers were Andrus Remy with a brace in the 11th and 70th min, Uhann Degazon 15th, Jeremie Abraham 45th, and Mervin St. Romain 62nd min.
