Courtney Paul and Fayth Lubrun led a strong and spirited performance for Team Saint Lucia to finish sixth overall in the meet.
The Saint Lucian swimmers amassed a total of seven medals including three silver, and four bronze, while several swimmers earned Personal Best (PB) times.
In the winner’s role were the following individuals:
Boys 8 and Under- Tiago Nelson, Bronze 50-meter breaststroke.
Boys 11-12 – Jayden Xu, Bronze 200 Individual Medley (IM).
Girls 9-10- Sapphire Parks, Bronze 200 IM.
Girls 13-14 – Fayth Lubrun, Silver 200 meters freestyle, Bronze 100 meters butterfly.
Girls 15-17 – Courtney Paul, Silver 50 meters breaststroke, Silver 100 meters breaststroke.
The Final Points Tally is as follows:
– The Bahamians topped both the male and female sections, respectively, to claim the championship with 1,418.50 points.
– Jamaica took second place with 1,143.50,
– Trinidad and Tobago (970.50) ended third,
– Barbados (739.50) fourth,
– Suriname fifth (522.50),
– Saint Lucia sixth (197.50),
– Grenada seventh (3),
– Turks and Caicos eighth (1).
The Saint Lucia squad consisted of boys – Tiago Nelson, Nathan Lewis, Tre Theresine, Jayden Xu, Liam Felicien, Aaron Charles, James Sylvester, Omar Gabriel, D’Andre Vigier, Eric Xu, Jonas Sylvester, and Nathan Vigier.
Girls – Sapphire Parks, Aniyah George, Najmah Melchior, Jasmine Vigier, Zaina Brathwaite, Kayla Marisse – Inglis, Damari Maxwell, Fayth Lubrun, Courtney Paul, Maliyah Henry, and Caitlin Polius.
The Technical Staff were as follows: Brian Charles, Head Coach, Sherma Bernard, Assistant Coach, Nickler Velinor – Paul, Team Manager, Denise Stanley, Kim Vigier, Chaperone, Dr. Joanne Mills – Felicien, Team Doctor/ Chaperone.
Next year, Saint Lucia is due to host the 28th edition of the Goodwill Swimming Championship.
