ACTION in the SLFA Inc Island Super Cup continued this week, with two matches played at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.
Playing on home grounds, Soufriere beat Marchand 2-0 for a comfortable victory; with goals from Jahzani Henry 21st and William Cenac in the 8th minutes of added-on time.
Babonneau then took on South Castries and got by with a 3-1 margin. After leading 1-0 at the interval, the Northern-based team surged ahead with goals from Lee Edward with a brace in the 67th and 86th minutes and the other from Shakim Hunte in the 39th minute.
Levon Dupre scored the loner for South Castries in the 61st minute.
Meanwhile, reports state that the Gros Islet Football League [GIFL] U13 Football Team advanced to the semi-finals round of the Caribbean Children’s Charity Shield Soccer Classic, in Barbados.
The youngsters have been quite impressive with their team play, and GIFL personnel have congratulated the boys and extended support as the team progresses in the competition.
The GIFL U-13s advanced to the knockout stages by topping their group with 7 pts. They were due to take on the National Sports Council Team last night, after press time.
