A four-member team will represent Saint Lucia at the 9th FINA International Swimming Federation World Junior Championships, which gets underway in Netanya, Israel, from September 4 to 9.
The six-day competition will take place at the Wingate Institute, a facility built for hosting world-class international swimming events.
The young swimmers from the Saint Lucia Aquatics Federation [SLAF] representing the country are Antoine Destang, Naekeisha Louis, Fayth Jeffrey, and the reigning Junior Sportsman for the Year, Tristan Dorville.
Marlon Peter will serve as Head Coach and the team will be managed by Julianna Ward – Destang. Also making the trip to championships is SLAF President, Eddie Hazell.
According to an SLAF spokesperson, these four swimmers are no strangers to being on the same team, having represented Saint Lucia at the 2023 CARIFTA Swimming Championship in Curacao.
Destang will participate in the 100m Backstroke, 100m Butterfly, and 100m Freestyle. Naekeisha Louis will compete in the 50m Butterfly, 50m, and 100m Freestyle; Fayth Jeffrey, 50m Breaststroke, 400m Individual Medley (IM), 100M Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 200m IM, 100m Butterfly and 100m Breaststroke. Tristan Dorville will compete in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 100m and 200m Butterfly.
The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports wishes the team all the best at the championships.
