A high-powered delegation from Lamentin, Martinique was on the island, last weekend, to initiate dialogue with the Mayor of Castries Geraldine Lendor Gabriel for a twinning of the two cities.
The delegation was headed by Mayor David Zobda of Lamentin, Martinique. In his invitation letter he stated: “We want to benefit from your experience in twinning and hear your expectations to open up new perspectives for regional cooperation.”
Mayor Zobda extended an invitation to Mayor Gabriel to the first edition of the Economic Forum of Twin Cities of the Caribbean to be held from December 5 to 7, in Lamentin, Martinique.
According to the organizers, the scheduled three-day meeting will discuss the following items, namely: overcoming the obstacles to trade with Cuba, an acceleration of the intensity of trade with the Caribbean, and a Circular Economy for cross-border trade.
The proposed plans also include a Circular Economy for cross-border waste management, a Blue Economy sea and ports strategy, regional economy of health, and business tourism for small Caribbean entrepreneurs.
In addition, the sessions will also involve the ‘Plenary Lectures Strategy’ for a zone of peace and Prosperity in the Caribbean.
