.

LABOUR Commissioner Mr. Joseph Joseph described the long-awaited finalization of a Collective Agreement between Saint Lucia Electricity Services and the Civil Service Association as a significant milestone achievement.

Speaking at the signing on Monday, July 10, 2023, the Labour Commissioner disclosed that the Collective Agreement covers two trienniums: January 2014 to December 2016 and January 2017 to December 2019.

The parties requested the intervention of the Labour Commissioner to settle the wage dispute. The Labour Commissioner intervened and, after carefully examining the facts, recommended a 12 percent (12%) wage increase for the employees, covering the two trienniums retroactively from 2014.

Human Resource Officer of LUCELEC Mrs. Sharon Narcisse, thanked the CSA for their commitment in ensuring the successful outcome of the process. She also applauded the office of the Labour Commissioner for its meaningful level of engagement and intervention during the negotiations process.

CSA representative Mr. McStephen Aubertin also commended all parties involved in the negotiations, acknowledging that it was a period of passionate but respectful bargaining that ultimately resulted in a beneficial compromise for all.
