Ministry of Agriculture to Observe International Day of Plant Health

Friday May 12, 2023 will be celebrated as International Day of Plant Health (IDPH) around the world. This is an annual event which seeks to raise global awareness on how protecting plant health can aid in the following ways: ending hunger, reducing poverty, environment protection and increasing economic development. This year’s theme “Plant Health for Environmental Protection”, aims to raise awareness and to promote healthy plants while helping to protect the environment and biodiversity.

The International Day of Plant Health calls for the involvement and support of everyone. To celebrate IDPH 2023, the National Plant Protection body, will be hosting a Plant Health Clinic on the grounds of the National Agricultural Diagnostic Facility (NADF). The purpose of the clinic is to help support plant health services as it relates to pests, disease diagnostics and the management of plant health problems. Additionally, to provide other related advisory and information services to farmers and the public.

This activity is targeted at all farmers and extension officers from the eight agricultural regions, home gardeners and to the general public. This event will facilitate in person exchange between research officers and crop producers to assist with plant health concerns or general information.

The activity will take place on the ground floor of the National Agricultural Diagnostic Facility located at Union on Friday 12th May 2023 from 9:00am- 3:00pm.

The Plant Research and Development Division and by extension the Ministry of Agriculture extends best wishes to all stakeholders on the observance of International Day of Plant Health, 2023.

We encourage your participation at this opportune event.
