A seven-member Saint Lucia Table Tennis Team are currently in Martinique to participate in the Union Nationale du Sport Scolaire Caribbean School Games, schedule to run from May 16 to 18, at the Louis Achilles Stadium.
The contingent which left the island, Monday, includes Dawitt Nurse and Manie Eleuthere, who will compete in the Boys Under- 18 Team event.
Junior female Table Tennis Player for the Year, Shatal Charles will team up with Sapphire Popo to compete in the Girls Under-16 Teams event; while Leshon Francis and Vernon Salvator will do battle in the Boys Under-16 Team event.
The team is under the guidance of Zarianne Anthony who serves as Chaperone and Coach.
Table Tennis coach in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Chris Wells said, the trip to Martinique was made possible through the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.
“The Saint Lucia National Table Tennis Association (SLNTTA) didn’t have this event on our planned calendar however, we saw it as an opportunity to allow our Under-13 players to compete before their Caribbean Tournament scheduled for Curacao, July 10th – 15th”, noted Wells.
