DCYO and Faith United have qualified as the finalists for this season’s SLFA Inc. President’s Cup, after two tough semifinal challenges that came off, recently.
In a hard-fought encounter, at the Dennery Playing Field, DCYO beat Nyah FC 1-nil with the home side having to dig deep to overcome their opponents.
DCYO missed the target from the penalty spot in the first half, as Nyah custodian Racey Demille brought out a brilliant save to deny Josh Hunte from converting.
However, Elijah Joseph made amends with a ‘cracker shot’ of a goal in the 62nd minute to seal the victory.
Despite taking an early lead in the match, Big Players were outdone by their more wily challengers Faith United, the runaway victors.
Earlier, Lincoln Phillip netted from the spot in the 31st minute to give Big players the lead.
However, Faith United titled the balance in their favour as William Cenac responded with two quick goals in the 36th and 40th min, for a 2-1 lead by the interval.
Opposing sides kept up a tough challenge as the game progressed, but United held strong to earn the win.
