On Thursday, 26th January 2023, the United Workers Party (UWP) convened a meeting of the National Executive and appointed three new members to the National Executive of the Party, with immediate effect.
The following members were appointed: 1. General Secretary – Jeannine Giraudy-McIntyre, Attorney-at-Law, former President of The Senate 2018 to 2021. Her professional background, passion and organizational skills will serve the Party well.
2. Public Relations Officer – Lenard Spider Montoute former Parliamentary Representative of Gros Islet Constituency 2006 to 2011 and 2016 to 2021. He served in the Cabinet of Ministers as Minister for Social Transformation, Public Service, Human Resource Development, Family Affairs and Youth and Sports. He also served in the Senate from 2012 to 2014. Having served in the Cabinet of several UWP administrations, he brings a wealth of experience to the new role. His political astuteness and experience will serve him well.
3. Mobilization Officer – Mrs. Nancy Charles who served as on the National Executive as Chairperson of the View Fort North Constituency Branch and Treasurer and Deputy Chairman of The Party. She was also a candidate in the 2011 general election and from 2016-2021 she served as Director of Implementation in the Office of The Prime Minister. Mrs. Charles is a long-standing member of the Party. Her service to the Party at all levels and in various roles will serve her in good stead as she embarks upon her latest, new role as Mobilization Officer.
The National Executive was advised by the Chairpersons, that at a recent meeting of Chairpersons a new Chair of Chairs was elected in the person of Mr. Angus (Alman) Jn Baptiste. He formerly served as Deputy Chairperson of the Soufriere Branch of the Party and is the present Chairman of the Soufriere Branch. His many years in the political arena and his reputation for strong leadership and tenacity leave him well placed to carry out this new role.
