SLFA Stages Exciting Girls Festival for Women’s Football Month

A total of 66 young girls ranging from ages 10 – 14 participated in what organisers referred to as a “very successful” Girls Festival, last Saturday (November, 26) at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.

The three-hour long skills development session was part of the St. Lucia Football Association [SLFA] Inc. schedule of activities in celebration of  Women’s’ Football Month.

The participants came from nine Football Leagues, namely; Canaries, Central Castries, Choiseul, Desruisseaux, La Clery, Micoud, Roseau, Soufriere and Vieux Fort South.

SLFA’s Inc. Women’s Football Coordinator- Mary Liz Campbell and SLFA Technical Director Ces Podd, got the event underway respectively, with welcome remarks and an overview of the day’s activity.

The activity consisted of six stations where the participants performed specific skills for a period of ten minutes following which they rotated to another station until they got through all six zones.

The sessions concluded with a 30 min football game, 15 minutes each half where the participants were further assessed.

The organisers expressed satisfaction and contentment with the outcome and the talent showcased by the young participants.

Next up is a presentation to the Dunnottar School on Wednesday (November, 30) as the SLFA Inc. continues to celebrate Women’s Football Month.
