No Questions about Politics in the 2022 National Population and Housing Census – Central Statistical Office

The Central Statistical Office has responded to concerns that there are questions relating to politics within the questionnaire being administered by enumerators around the island.

Urmain Gray, Statistician at the Central Statistical Office, says all questions are centered (on) areas such as health, education, housing, livelihood, and are intended to give policymakers critical information on planning national development.

Martha Joseph, an officer of the Central Statistical Office assured respondents that all questions relate to national development issues such as disability and internal migration among other areas.

The 2022 National Population and Housing Census has been extended into early 2023. Over 600 enumerators are involved in administering the census questionnaire.

The census has been progressing positively covering about 60 percent of households in St. Lucia.
