A 26-year-old resident of Dugard, Micoud was arrested by officers and taken into police custody yesterday after a Glock 19 pistol with seven rounds of ammunition was recovered during a routine patrol.
Officers attached to the Special Services Unit (South) were conducting patrols within the Vieux Fort Fishing Complex on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at about 12:15 p.m., when they had cause to search Bert Jn. Baptiste, a police report revealed.
Jn. Baptiste was later charged for unlawful Possession of Firearm and Ammunition. He was escorted before the Second District Court today (Thursday, December 01, 2022), where he was granted bail in the sum of $26,000.00.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, officers arrested a male in the north of the island who was in possession of a magazine containing eight rounds of ammunition.
At about 11:45 p.m., officers attached to the Special Services Unit (North), were conducting routine patrols within the city, when apparent gunshots were heard in the Hospital Road area.
Officers proceeded to the location and encountered a male who attempted to flee the scene; the individual was eventually captured by police, however. A search of the area near the suspect was also conducted and a Beretta pistol with a magazine containing six rounds of ammunition was recovered.
The twenty-one-year-old resident of Hospital Road, Castries was arrested and is currently in police custody waiting to be charged. An update will be provided in due course.
Scooter Recovered
Police officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (Castries) also executed a Warrant to Search for Property at a residence in Bocage, Castries.
During the search, officers recovered a scooter which was reported stolen on Friday, November 23, 2022. The male suspect was arrested and is currently waiting to be charged. An update on this matter will also be provided in due course.
