BI FC Top SLFA Div. I League as ‘Unofficial’ Champions

BI FC demolished El Ninos 9-0 in a SLFA Inc. Div. I match played at the Soufriere playing Field, on Monday, to go top of the league table and claim the ‘unofficial’ championship title.

With a 4-nil lead at the interval, BI FC continued their relentless attack spearheaded by a hat trick from national striker Andrus Remy who converted in the 7th, 58th and 85th minutes. Other contributions came from Jordan St. Ange with a brace in the 12th and 73rd minutes, while Travis St. Pierre 22nd, Akim Francis 36th, Lamar George 47th and Joshua La Force in the 75th minutes added to the score line.

The newly promoted Marchand League side made good work of their position in the big league to finish their campaign in a dominant style with a well –rounded clinical display.

In Div. II competition, Piton Travel Young Stars beat the National U-17 Boys 2-1 to earn a hard fought victory.

Alk Marquis put the Young Stars ahead from the penalty spot in the 9th min., but Rickelme Lionel netted in the 18th minute to give the junior nationals an equalizer. But Mc. Kenny Flavius’ 75th min. strike sealed the deal for the victors.

According to an SLFA official, the competition was due to conclude on Tuesday (September, 13) with Platinum coming up against Northern United at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.

Meanwhile, the La Clery Football League Promotional Cup kicked off on Sunday (September, 11) at the La Clery Playing Field.

In the lone encounter Agardianz defeated Radics 5 – 1, following a 2 – 1 lead at half time.

Scoring for Agardianz were Duran Leonce 8th, Icub Job 32nd, Kinson Carasco 47th, Kevin Dupre 64th and Zebulon Job 66th min respectively.

Shawn Alcee scored for Radics in the 30th min.

Matches continue on September, 18 with Radics vs. Active Hill at 4:15 p.m.

In other soccer updates, St. Lucian national player and defender (center back) Melvin Doxilly left the island on Tuesday (September, 13) for Jamaica. He will be in action for Mt. Pleasant competing in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) Championship.

In 2018, Melvin represented Morvant Caledonia United and from January 2021, moved to Cavalier Football Club. Melvin was influential in helping his Club win the JPL Championship, in 2021.

Mt. Pleasant Football Academy is a Jamaican Professional football club based in St. Ann. The club currently plays in the Red Stripe Premier League, with Theodore Whitmore as the head coach.

In other developments, several former St Lucian Under -20 players were expected to feature in the lineup for Jamaica College when they played against St. Mary’s on Tuesday, in the Jamaica Inter Schools football tournament. The tournament kicked off on September, 10.
