VSADC Tops Points Table in SLFA Div. I Contest

Teams continue to jostle for top spots in a bid for the Championship title – as the SLFA Inc. league competitions carry on at selected venues across the island.

On Tuesday, in a Div. I fixture at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds [PMG], Uptown Rebels got past Ti Rocher 2-nil; with goals scored by Riquelme Elva in the 58th and Donavan Jn. Baptiste with a penalty in the 83rd minute.

Also at the PMG, VSADC defeated Monchy United 3 – 2. VSADC’s goal scorers included Shaquille Uhann – 29th minute, Keegan Caul- 43rd minute and Rashad Eugene – in the 45th minute, while Jahlil Evans got a brace for Monchy in the 39th and 87th minutes of the game.

Results of matches played, on Thursday are as follows:

Monchy United vs. Victory Eagles 4-2;

GMC United vs. Ti Rocher 1-1;

Platinum FC vs. B I FC   2-0.

VSADC with 14 points from seven matches, Uptown Revels with 14 points from eight and Monchy United with 13 points from six games, top the points table in that league.

Matches in the SLFA Inc. Div. II league competition continued at the Soufriere Playing Field, this week,

On Monday, Lancers and New Generations drew 2-all. After holding a 2-1 lead at the interval, the southern-based New Generations hit back in the latter session to level the score with their sub-urban city opponents.

Baggio Edward put New Generations ahead as early as the 1st minute;  but Lancers fought back to get two goals  from Danan George and Albertini Phillip in the 26th  and 42nd  minutes  respectively. Nelson Nelson’s 65th min conversion enabled his team to share the points.

Black Panthers, on home soil, beat Diamond Ballers 2-nil with   goals from Inanco Sylvester in the 72nd minute and a penalty converted by Curtis Nicholas in the 87th minute.

At the Desruisseaux Playing Field, the National U-17 team bounced back from their previous loss to defeat Togetherness Youth 5 – 3.

The junior national squad shook off the opposing side’s earlier two goals advantage to offset the play with goals from Darcel Farquharson with a brace in the 21st and 54th minutes, Eymain Butcher 33rd, Rickelme Lionel 41st and Obafami Poyotte 63rd minutes.

Togetherness Youth’s goal scorers were Rohan Camille 12th, Zacky Harper 18th and Larry Harper 79th minute.

In a game dubbed ‘the Stars’ derby, 1987 All Stars were held to a 2 – 2 draw by Piton Travel Young Stars. Mc Arthur Louis scored a penalty in the 24th minute and Sagay Ferdinand found the nets in the 61st minute for the 1987 All Stars.

Piton Travel Young Stars converged through Mac Gyver Raymond with a penalty in the 56th minute and Hylee Stanislaus in the 65th minute.

Wednesday –

Bays FC vs. Piton Young Stars 2-1.

Meanwhile, Garrand FC emerged winners of the Babonneau League / SLFA Inc. Promotional tournament by defeating Boguis United Stars 3-nil, in the finals, played last weekend.

Jamal Albert scored a brace with goals in the 8th and 36th minutes, while Rick David netted an 80th minute penalty to seal victory.

In other soccer updates, Pavee and Flames played to a 2-all draw in a Marchand Football League / SLFA’s Inc. Promotional Football fixture match.

Scoring for Pavee were Jerquan MonLouis and Sebastien Willie in the 9th and 51st min respectively, while Jamie Daniel and Jeff Floronville scored for Flames in the 20th and 54th minute respectively.
