The Government of Saint Lucia and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission is convening the second Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Investment Forum in Saint Lucia from July 5th-7th 2022 at the Harbor Club Hotel. This year’s forum will be held under the theme: From the Frontline to the Future: Uniting the Caribbean for Bold Climate Action, bringing to the fore issues and solutions related to decarbonizing the Eastern Caribbean, exploring ambition and opportunity through cooperation and support.
The three-day event will be an open regional platform for climate action, inviting active engagement and contributions from interested countries, development partners, development banks, and private sector stakeholders for the delivery of regional cross-sector and multipartite stakeholder consultations, engagement and exchange processes that support ambitions for climate leadership in the Caribbean and catalyze investments in resilient and low-carbon infrastructure across priority sectors as identified by OECS Member States; learning and support opportunities that address hurdles in the development of investment projects in key sectors and learning and support opportunities that improve access to public and private climate finance.
A key component of the Forum is the Marketplace, an inperson and virtual exhibition of service providers with the energy sector. It was conceived to generate greater participation of private sector organizations.
The NDC Investment Forum is an effort under the Caribbean Nationally Determined Contribution Finance Initiative (NDCFI). The NDCFI was formed to advance and implement Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in the Eastern Caribbean region and related commitments of OECS Member States.
Over the last few years, the NDCFI has built a regional cross-sector and multi-partite stakeholder consultation and engagement process to support ambitions for climate leadership in the OECS region, at the technical and political levels, become a regional platform for learning and support on project preparation and access to finance to accelerate NDC implementation, and solidified fruitful professional relationships among technical public officers in the respective Member States.
The NDC Investment Forum is sponsored by the Government of Saint Lucia, Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, GIZ, GET.invest, European Union, Global Green Growth Institute, Caribbean Development Bank, NDC Partnership, Republic of China (Taiwan), and the British Government.
