Bridgetown, Barbados: For the second consecutive year, Sagicor has signed on as a sponsor of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union’s (CBU) Caribbean Media Awards.
The regional insurer continues to signal its support of media across the Caribbean with the sponsorship of the health education journalism award. This year, the company also introduced an additional award for financial literacy journalism.
The health education journalism award highlights news, current affairs or public service content, in any television programming or print format that focuses on and promotes an understanding of the national or regional health sectors or advances health and wellness while the financial literacy journalism award highlights news or current affairs content in any television programming or print format that focuses on and promotes an understanding of the financial components and skills pertaining to the effective management of money and debt.
Last year’s health education journalism awards were won by Great Belize Productions (Channel 5) in the television category and the Broadcasting Corporation of Bahamas in the radio category. The pieces dealt with various aspects of HIV/AIDS.
