In THE VOICE Newspaper edition of the 16th day of April, 2022, in an article by Earl Bousquet, Bousquet made several statements which were not only factually inaccurate, untrue and defamatory of Mr. Allen Chastanet but also hurtful to him and his family.
Earl Bousquet stated and insinuated that Mr. Allen Chastanet is a criminal, and the statements are quite clearly defamatory since Mr. Allen Chastanet has never been charged with or convicted of any criminal offence whatsoever, whether relating to the subject matter of the article or otherwise.
We now recognise that these statements were not only wrong, but also unfounded and have caused Mr. Allen Chastanet and his family considerable hurt, pain, embarrassment and distress.
We accordingly wish to take this opportunity to unreservedly withdraw these defamatory statements and any allegations made and undertake not to repeat or further publish same in any way shape or form. We wish to express our sincere regret and apologies to Mr. Allen Chastanet and his family for any hurt, pain, embarrassment or distress caused.
