The activity was held in the Dennery Fishing Complex on Saturday, February 19, and featured ten booths where various products from the community were on sale. The Dennery Farmers Market was hosted jointly by the Dennery South Constituency Council and the Taiwan Technical Mission under the patronage of Hon. Alfred Prospere, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Rural Development.

Moreover, the Dennery Farmers Market was hosted to celebrate Saint Lucia’s 43rd anniversary of Independence, which was observed on Tuesday, February 22.

Taiwan’s Ambassador to Saint Lucia, H.E. Peter Chen, attended the Dennery Farmers Market to support the vendors. He was accompanied by Hon. Alfred Prospere, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Rural Development.

While in Dennery, Hon. Prospere – who is also the Member of Parliament for Dennery South – and Ambassador Chen toured parts of the Dennery community and discussed community development initiatives.

The Farmers Market is a common feature on the Taiwan Technical Mission’s calendar. Held regularly in various communities around Saint Lucia on specified dates, the activity serves to promote local farmers and their products, thereby allowing them to earn a sustainable income.
