NWU’s 2022 Annual Congress of Delegates to be held Sunday January 30, 2022

The National Workers Union (NWU) will be holding its 2022 Annual Congress of Delegates on Sunday January 30, 2022. For the second consecutive year the looming COVID-19 environment has stymied the NWU’s Congress forcing the proceedings to be undertaken without the traditional formal Open Session that is generally a hallmark of the occasion.

In conforming to the required protocols to be observed at this time, the National Workers Union will use three locations as bases for this year’s Congress: the John Burke King Industrial Academy at UNITY HOUSE in Sans Souci, Castries, the Training Room of the St. Lucia Employers Federation and the National Skills Development Centre in Vieux Fort for the Delegates from the southern part of the island.

Secretary General, Johann M Harewood will welcome Delegates to the 2022 NWU Annual Congress of Delegates. The Venerable Christian E. Glasgow M.A., B.A., Dip. P.S. of the Parish of Holy Trinity, Castries will share some words of wisdom with the delegates. The Closed Session will deliberate on Resolutions, Financial Statements and Portfolio Reports. A Central Committee will be elected to administer the union’s affairs for the 2022/2023 period.

The Theme for this year’s Annual Congress of Delegates is “The Trade Union Movement must continue to justify its existence”. Starting time is 9:30 am.
