An earthquake of 4.2 on the Richter scale was recorded on Sunday (January 16th 2022) morning at 4:32 a.m.
According to data from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Martinique, the early morning quake had a depth of 20 kilometres with its epicenter located some 72.3 kilometers north-east of neighbouring Martinique’s town of Vauclin.
The earthquake was identified of tectonic origin, therefore caused by the movement of tectonic plates.
No damage to buildings or loss of life was reported as a result of the tremor.
