Do the Right Things – Live Bold, Live Free!

“All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honour, duty, mercy, hope.” Winston Churchill

In spite of the current pandemic which is wreaking havoc in the world today, if we follow the overwhelming evidence of the science that has been established, and do the right things – follow the protocols and get vaccinated, we can have the confidence to Live Bold, and Live Free!

I can imagine how the modern day prophets are having their say as it relates to the end time. The bible is clear on where the world is heading. The times have never been more predictable. We are heading towards self-destruction. It is time for the voices of all leaders to be deafening, exhorting their followers to do the right things to save themselves, their loved ones, and their communities.

Many of us can attest to the fact that in recent weeks, death has become more real as relatives and friends fall victims to the vicious attack of the virus. Gone too soon is such a relevant statement as we witness the passing of so many young people who are called to higher service. COVID 19 has joined with homicide cases to cut down our young people. Many are tempted to devalue life but let us see this period of trial and tribulation as a test of our faith, and that when it is all over, as it will, we can return to the freedom we once enjoyed. In the meantime, those who are doing what is right are continuing to live on their own terms with the freedom they never lost.

The word obedience takes centre stage in today’s suffering. Those who failed to respond positively to the science and follow strange and unprofitable noises, simply wanting to be different suffer the consequences of disobedience and in many instances too late, too late are their last words. Misinformation has taken over the minds of persons with itching ears, in some cases persons who were never expected to be so inclined. Now, these persons have emerged as leaders and are challenging those who follow the science and make decisions based on tested and proven evidence.

We cannot say enough about the COVID 19 Pandemic and the Delta Variant. The more said about it, is the better. It must be top of the mind. I cannot help myself as I feel compelled to add my voice of encouragement to those who are reluctant to take the vaccines. I am proud that I followed the science and made the decision to be vaccinated in the early stage when the Astra-Zeneca Vaccine was introduced. I was not forced to do anything. I did it because I thought it was the right thing to do then and I sincerely feel the same today.

This holiday weekend, we have an extended No Movement period and going forward the curfew week days will be 6.00 pm to 4.00 am. This is all in an attempt to keep people in their homes. Follow the protocols and let us take control over the virus. It is amazing what one person with the virus can do. We have to exercise all necessary precautions to stay safe. Let us support the government in its efforts to control the spread of this virus. Together, we can do it.

I received an email from a gentleman who is by no means someone who can be easily seen as a religious person. Surprisingly, he was suggesting “that the government request the involvement of all media houses for a period of religious observance during this holiday weekend.” I see this as a solid recommendation.

Let us tone down the high volume and vulgar music as far as is possible. Through this column, I suggested that the government call on all religious groups to observe a National Day of Prayer. It would have been great to dedicate this entire weekend to fasting and praying for the total eradication of COVID 19. Those of us who got vaccinated and continue to follow the protocols, let us continue to live confidently, always seeking to get others to do the right things.

I fully support the Bus Drivers throughout the island during this difficult period and whenever possible, and the suggestion of them being tipped for their courageous services should be encouraged.

Make every effort to stay safe and meditate upon the state we find ourselves in today. Let us pray for deliverance and that in the end, it will be well with us. Keep the faith. Yahweh is in charge!
