The United Workers Party held its National Council meeting last Sunday, February 28 during which two candidates to contest upcoming general elections for the party were ratified.
The virtual event took place via Zoom.
Contesting the Vieux Fort North seat in parliament for the party will be Vincent London who will be going up against the Saint Lucia Labour Party Moses ‘Musa’ Jn Baptiste, while Senator Hermangild Francis will be carrying the torch for the party in Vieux Fort South. He will be going up against Dr. Kenny Anthony of the Saint Lucia Labour Party.
Both candidates were selected by a unanimous vote of the council’s members.
Party Leader Allen Chastanet congratulated the successful candidates and urged them to work in the interest of the people of their respective communities. He said that the United Workers Party has a long history of working to create opportunities for all Saint Lucians.
Sunday’s National Council meeting was the first ever to be held virtually with each Constituency Branch logging in from their individual communities.
