Silverware for Saint Lucian Athletes in the USA

Saint Lucia’s athletes currently attending Universities/Colleges in the USA performed creditably this past weekend as some closed off the indoor season and others opened up their outdoor season.

Former MoPo Athletics athlete Micky Ferdinand now attending Texas A&M University produced another fine showing when he commenced his debut at the NCAA Division 2 Indoor Championship; Ferdinand finished 3rd in the Men’s High Jump event and gained All- American status.  Micky cleared 2.09 metres, 6 centimetres shy of his Personal Best.

Elite track and field middle distance runner Armani Modeste and his Lindenwood team won bronze, gaining All American status in the 4×400 metres relay at the NCAA Division 2 Indoor Championships. The Lindenwood quartet ran 3 minutes 13.87 seconds to win Heat No. 2.

Another Morne Stars athlete, female sprinter Mechaela Hyacinth, student athlete at Azusa Pacific in her first meet for the outdoor season won the ladies 100 metres at the Battle For Cal Meet.
