Magic and Real Coconut Oil Return to Supermarket Shelves

The Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards (SLBS) wishes to advise the public of the re-entry to the market of Magic and Real Coconut Oil. The return of the products to the supermarket shelves follow the implementation of recommendations for corrective action at the processing facility and rigourous and extensive testing of the finished product.

The SLBS is satisfied that the actions taken to date supported by the results of tests on the products that both Magic and Real Coconut Oil have demonstrated compliance with the national standards for Coconut Oil SLNS 25: 2017.

In that regard, the Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards has issued “Conformity Statements” to Prevost Foods for batch numbers 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006 and 007.

The Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards commends Prevost Foods for its cooperation in dealing with all outstanding issues related to the reemergence of Magic and Real Coconut Oil on the market.

The SLBS encourages the implementation of standards in the agro-processing sector in order to guarantee the quality of traditional locally produced products. Consumers should remain vigilant in the purchasing of all products for consumption and report any apparent deviations from established specifications.

The SLBS will continue to work with all stakeholders to monitor the coconut oil available for sale in Saint Lucia ensuring conformity to SLNS 25: 2017 to which compliance is mandatory.
