I have a dream: We can, We will

I have a dream, that some day
Every boy and every girl in our nation
Will shout from every rooftop and hilltop
Every mango tree and guava tree
From every classroom and every community
I want to be an entrepreneur!

I have a dream, that same day
Every parent, guardian and teacher
Will support them in that vision.
With this faith we will transform the land of my birth.

I have a dream, that though the ravaging waves of COVID
Have issued our existing entrepreneurs a bad check,
Returned marked, “Insufficient Funds,”
That seed is fiercely taking root
With banks of hope that will never go bankrupt;
And Saint Lucia will emerge triumphant and magnificent.

I have a dream, that as they move toward achieving that goal
My fellow countrymen will realize that our destiny is tied up in theirs;
Therefore, we’ll not seek to satisfy our thirst only, but lend a helping hand;
So these creative minds do not degenerate into protest.
Ensuring that if they’re brave enough to see it,
They’re brave enough to be it.
Just as our Nobel Laureates, Daren Sammy, Lavern Spencer and others
Defied waters, borders, and colours,
I have a dream: We Can, We Will.
