Orlando’s Restaurant & Bar Captures Caribbean Journal’s Best Restaurant Award, Again!

Orlando Satchell’s World-class Soufriere Restaurant has stepped up in rank from number 25 to number 1O in 50, in the Caribbean Journal Invest publication, the authority of Caribbean Hotel, Real Estate and Tourism Business News.

Internationally-recognised Celebrity Chef Orlando Satchell is the current award-holder for the ‘Caribbean Chef of the Year’ title. His culinary establishment Orlando’s Restaurant & Bar was in recent years accredited as one of the Top Three in the Caribbean.

Chef Orlando was voted as one of the best chefs in the region for 2018 and 2019 by Caribbean Journal Invest and now, again been awarded this accolade with a 10th place positioning. This is the eighth annual edition of the award which was birthed in 2013, as a landmark list of the 50 best restaurants in the Caribbean. With awardees selected based on food, service and ambience, It remains the leading annual celebration of region-wide restaurants.

In 2019, Chef Orlando’s culinary establishment was recognised as the only Caribbean restaurant to be observed as one of the best in the world by Travel & Leisure and Food & Wine.

The annual World’s Best Restaurants list, a collaboration between Travel + Leisure and Food & Wine — is a celebration of eateries around the world which best capture the spirit, culture and cuisine of their communities.

In 2019, the Top Chef was also honoured with a Gault Millau France award and as one of the top restaurants to dine at in Saint Lucia numerous times by Trip Advisor.

The resourceful chef has operated his domain restaurant in Saint Lucia for the last eight years — having resided on-island for twenty, after migrating from his homeland England. Birthed from Jamaican and Barbadian descent, the experienced creative culinary genius has operated restaurants in Singapore, Miami and London and has been on a long-term mission to acquire global recognition for Caribbean cuisine — sharing both his love and passion for the food he prepares. For Orlando, cooking isn’t only about taste, it’s equally about sharing an authentic Caribbean experience, smiles and most importantly love with those he steadfastly serves.

Apart from his innate passion for cuisine, Chef Orlando is a renowned community activist in key areas such as food (agriculture), health, travel (hospitality) and more. All these, among other major accomplishments, have rightfully earned him global acknowledgement. Apart from this, it is undoubtedly Orlando’s humble, grateful yet charming and amicable spirit — while in contrast, his confident and colourful personality which causes him to stand out. The classy, well-rounded Chef’s distinctly clever wit and jovial energy — not to mention his vast international connections and an epic history of adventures, have undoubtedly earned him celebrity status and again this prestigious award.
