Fresh off the heels of being named the 2020 World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination, Saint Lucia was awarded the title of “#1 Caribbean Destination in the 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards.”
The award reflects the views of Travel Weekly’s audience of what travel advisors consider to be the best in various categories of travel. With many impediments posed by the pandemic for the greater part of 2020, winners operated for part of the year, some continued operations throughout, as well as the months in 2019 that occurred after votes were cast for last year’s awards.
Through the ongoing and targeted marketing efforts of the destination, Saint Lucia continues to be recognized among meccas of the industry, offering service excellence that is second to none. Travel writers have recently described the islandās COVID-19 travel processes as āresponsible, safe and strong.ā
Commenting on the award, Caribbean and Events Marketing Manager at the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA), Christopher Gustave said: “We are thankful for the honour of this title. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic it shows that Saint Lucia demonstrates strong efforts in the responsible management and resiliency of the industry and its people. we know that we are along a path to recovery and every effort made is towards a positive trajectory.”
