Karate Do Federation Gears Up For Election December 19th

THE Karate Do Federation Saint Lucia gears up for its Elective Congress scheduled for Saturday 19th December 2020 at the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC) Inc Headquarters located in La Clery.

According to the President, Oliver Lawrence, the Agenda of Elective Congress include the all-important Election of Officers to the Executive Committee to serve for a two year term.

Other agenda items include, Proposed Budget and Programmes, Report of the Technical Director, Ratification of Membership among other standard agenda items.

The 10-year National Body have realized fair success, the ascendance of Karate as an Olympic Sport notwithstanding, and look forward to its permanence on the IOC agenda.

Lawrence said, “Our scheduled participation in an Olympic qualifier in Paris in 2021, a National Federation that all its Instructors and Assistant Instructors were First Responders Certified is testimony of the road we have travelled”.

“The Elective Congress is a core activity of the Karate Umbrella Body, participation of the affiliates are expected to be high, particularly in its nominations and selection of its National Executive Committee”. He noted.

Nominations have been extended up until today (Saturday 12th December)

The current executive includes: Oliver Lawrence – President; Dr. Ezra Jn Baptiste – Vice President and Technical Director; Karim Sifflet – Secretary; George Radjou – Treasurer; Trevor Bristol – Assistant Secretary/Treasurer; Public Relations Officer: Vacant; National Schools Representative: Vacant; Audrey Alexander and Servin Francois – Trustees.

The Technical Director as chair of the KFStLu Technical Committee makes up the National Executive Committee.

The affiliates includes: Bushido Shotokan Karate-Do Academy; Budokai Karate Dojo; Golden Phoenix Martial Arts; Hattsuryo Martial Arts Temple; Premier Martial Arts Institute; SLSKA and Zanshin Karate Dojo.

Karate-do Federation Saint Lucia (KFStLu) was established on December 6th 2010 and is affiliated to World Karate Federation (WKF)/the Pan American Karate Federation (PKF), and the Caribbean Karate Federation (CKF). It is recognized by the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC) Inc. and the Ministry for Youth Development and Sports.

KFStLu is the National Governing Body for Karate in Saint Lucia, as such; it is responsible for the promotion of Karate as a competitive sport and Saint Lucia’s participation in Olympic, Continental, Paralympic activities and World Games to name a few. All seven dojos/clubs are affiliates to the KFStLu and are represented on the General Council.
