THE Ministry of Health yesterday received confirmation of ten new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 94.
Case #85 is a 32 year old female from the Micoud district. Case #86 is a 32 year old female from the Dennery district. Case #87 is a 68 year old male from the Gros-Islet district. Case #88 is a 30 year old male from the Vieux-Fort district. Case #89 is a 19 year old female from the Vieux-Fort district. Case #90 is a 58 year old female from the Laborie district. Case #91 is a 35 year old male from the Gros-Islet district. Case #92 is a 35 year old male from the Gros-Islet district. Case #93 is a 41 year old male from the Micoud district and Case #94 is a 57 year old female from the Vieux-Fort district.
All of these cases, following testing for COVID-19, were placed in quarantine awaiting their results. Six of these cases were identified through the contact tracing process and epidemiological links have been established for these six cases. Cases #85 and #93 are linked to case #61. Case #87 is linked to case #65. Case #88 is linked to case #68. Case #90 is linked to case #69 and case #92 is linked to case #55.
As per protocol, arrangements have been made for the transfer of these individuals into care at the Respiratory Hospital. Today, the Ministry of Health also recorded four recoveries of individuals who were in care for COVID-19, resulting in 62 cases now being active in country. All other cases in care are stable and there are no cases requiring critical care.
This week the Ministry of Health’s public health team will continue contact tracing as well as interventions in communities of public health priority. This is in an effort to reduce the potential transmission of COVID-19 within the country.
The Ministry says it is grateful for the support it gets from community leaders as well as the residents of the various communities with whom it have been partnering.
