With the Ministry of Health confirming its concern with COVID-19 cases emerging from the East Coast of the island, the people and the Government of Saint Lucia were given an added boost in the fight against COVID-19.
The Cayman Islands donated a total of 5000 tests to Saint Lucia who in turn provided them with pipette tips.
“The emergence of cases on the East coast continues to be of concern to the Ministry of Health as we continue to receive reports of entry through unofficial channels. We continue to strengthen our surveillance in these areas and anticipate the detection of more cases as community testing increases,” the Ministry indicated in a Sunday press release.
Saint Lucia on Sunday , May 3rd, recorded its eighteenth case of COVID-19, a 51 year old male who sought care at one of the respiratory clinics with a dry cough but none of the accompanying symptoms of COVID-19.
A clarion call for men who may be feeling symptomatic to seek care as early as possible as this can prevent possible complication and allows for achieving better health outcomes, was made.
