CWI Regional 4 Day/ Round 3: Windwards and Leewards Derby at DSCG

REGIONAL 4 Day cricket returns to the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground (DSCG) today (Thursday 23rd) January 2020 when the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) plays host to the Windward Islands and Leeward Islands cricket teams in Cricket West Indies (CWI) third round of matches.

The matches bowl off at 2.00 p.m. daily and entrance to the DSCG is free.

The Windward Islands is currently in second place with 29.4 points, .02 of a point behind leaders Trinidad and Tobago, (3rd) Barbados with 25.6; (4th) five-time defending champions Guyana with 24.8 points; (5th) Jamaica with 14.8 points and the Leeward Islands at the bottom of the table on 4.2 points.

In the Windwards first encounter played at Arnos Vale Playing Field in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines they defeated Barbados by 3 wickets; scores in the match, Barbados 233 all out and 269 all out; the Windward Islands 234 all out and 269 for the loss of 7 wickets.

In their second encounter the Windwards drew against Jamaica at Sabina Park. Scores in the match: Jamaica 220 all out and 404 for 8 declare. The Windwards 387 all out and 155 for the loss of 5 wickets.

The Leewards in their first game in Antigua lost to Guyana by 10 wickets. Scores: Leewards 154 all out and 254 all out; Guyana 388 all out and 24 without loss.

Leewards also went down to Trinidad and Tobago at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago by 168 runs in their second game. Scores: Trinidad and Tobago 552 for 9 declared; Leewards 186 all out and 198 all out.

The Windward Islands will select their X1 from: Desron Maloney; Kavem Hodge; Devon Smith; Kirt Edwards; Sunil Ambris; Emmanuel; Keron Cottoy; Shane Shillingford; Sherman Lewis; Preslon Mc Sween; Josh Thomas and AlickAthanaze.

Leeward Islands team: Jamar Hamilton (captain); Kieran Powell; Devon Thomas; Sheno Berridge; Damion Jacobs; Keacy Carty; Montcin Hodge; Amir Jangoo; Quinton Boatswain; Colin Archibald; Rahkeem Cornwall and Alzarri Joseph.

Following round 3, the CWI tournament takes a break and will resume on February 6th with the following matches: Guyana (Jaguars) versus Jamaica (Scorpions) at the Guyana National Stadium; Leeward Islands Hurricanes against Barbados (Pride) at Warner Park, and Saint Kitts and the Windward Islands (Volcanoes) versus Trinidad and Tobago (Red Force) at Windsor Park in Dominica.
