ON Tuesday 3rd December the Gros Islet Police, while conducting a search at a residence at the Water-rocks community in Gros Islet, recovered four flat screen televisions which they believe to be the subject of ongoing investigations. No charges have yet been reported in relation to these findings, but police investigations are continuing.
The following day, Gros Islet Police conducted another search in the community of Pavee at the residence of Simeon Mitchell. During the search police recovered a quantity of jewellery, watches, a cell phone and a flat screen television. Simeon Mitchell has since been charged with the handling stolen goods. It was reported that some of the jewellery, found in his possession, has since been identified by the victim of a burglary that Gros Islet Police were in the conduct of investigating.
In regards to gun-related offenses, Rene Christopher was arrested on Friday 6th December by Marchand Police Officers for possession of a 9 mm Taurus and three rounds of live ammunition. He has since been charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
On Saturday 7th December, officers from the Major Crime Department conducted a search at a house in Derniere Riviere, Dennery. Smith and Carmichael Felix were the only occupants in the house at the time. During the search, police discovered a 9mm Taurus pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition. Both occupants were arrested and have since been charged for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. One of the individuals was wanted by the Vieux Fort Police for a homicide which occurred in Vieux Fort on 25th January, 2019, and for an attempted homicide which occurred on 24th January, 2019.
