TWO hundred students at the Bishop Charles Gachet R.C Primary School, formerly the Marchand Primary School, were given Christmas presents at the school’s Christmas party on Tuesday. The gifts and the party were provided by the Sandals Foundation through Sandals Regency La Toc. Resort staff embarked at the school fully loaded with Santa Claus and Santa’s elves, who handed the gifts to the children. The children were all trilled to receive their presents that day.
Gaurav Sindhi, General Manager of Sandals Regency La Toc, said, “Sandals Foundation and Sandals Resorts are very happy to be spreading some joy in Marchand, the Capital of Castries; to bring some joy to the kids and some joy to the families.” He announced that Sandals Grande and Sandals Halcyon were also engaged in similar activities at the Gros Islet Infant School and the Balata Combined School. More than 600 children were presented with gifts at the three schools.
“For Sandals La Toc, this is the school we chose just because we felt that this is the school that will benefit the most with the gifts that we are giving out today,” Sindhi stated.
Cornelia Lubin, Principal of the Bishop Charles Gachet R.C. Primary School, said the school was a proud beneficiary of the Sandals Foundation. In regards to the Christmas party and gifts, she stated, “It is a wonderful initiative because it brings joy to the hearts of our many children, some of whom have never experienced a Christmas party, a Santa, or getting gifts. So it’s a wonderful activity for them and for us as well.”
She continued, “It’s also wonderful for the parents, because it takes away the fact that they have to get money to buy toys. We are very grateful to Sandals for their continued support in bringing joy at this Christmas time.”
In closing, the Principal expressed her gratitude for the varied support that the Sandals Foundation has given to the school. “We are very thankful for Sandals Foundation for they have assisted us over the years with our computer lab, murals at the school, our school-feeding program and the dental clinic in July of this year. So we embrace Sandals whole-heartedly and we always welcome them to our school.”
