SAINT Lucia Sports Online Monchy FC received an injection of funds into their grassroots football development programme earlier this week. The Club received a sum of EC$10,000 from the Oliver Gobat Foundation for the youth programme for the year 2020. Children in this program range from ages 6 -13 years.
In 2018, with the financial support of the Oliver Gobat Foundation, the team was able to institute their development programme which accommodated over 60 disenfranchised players from the Monchy and Gros Islet communities.
After playing in a number of Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc organized competitions in 2018, the club registered very little success. However, after some financial assistance from the foundation, and additional effort from the parents and coaches attached to the club, Monchy United FC was able to put on an impressive display in the 2019 Guardsman Youth Tournament, where they finished 4th.
President of SLSO Monchy United FC Charde Desir, Captain of the senior team Troy Greenidge along with some members of the youth programme were on hand to receive the kind donation from the foundation.
Management and Squad of Monchy United FC would like to thank the Oliver Gobat Foundation for all their support during the past year.
