Come As You Are

Many of the dysfunctional and criminal activities in our society are as a result of emptiness people are experiencing in their lives – an emptiness that has resulted because adults and children have not been schooled in knowing the love of Jesus and exercising faith in His power to change their lives for the better.

People are tugged here and there by glitz, glamour and frivolity to the point where they have either lost sight of or do not know about kneeling in prayer, obedience to Almighty God and searching the Scriptures for wisdom and truth.

Yet Jesus continues to welcome all sinners and criminals by saying, “Come to Me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28). He welcomes Jews and Greeks, Muslims and Christians, Mormons and Hindus, Buddhists and Nyabinghi, Pharisees and atheists, those who think they know God and those who know they do not know Him to a promise of peace, rest and prosperity.

He accepts the wealthy and the poor, the homeless and the vagrant. His arms are wide open to receive the good, the bad and the ugly to Himself in love.

If you are Black or White, Jesus is calling you. He does not discriminate on any front: not on skin colour, economic status, position in the society, rank in government or level of authority in the armed forces. Bow-legged or not, He calls you to take your rest in Him so He can teach you. Fast or slow, athletic or clumsy, fat or thin, muscular or flabby, Jesus is saying to you, “Come to Me …. I am gentle and humble of heart… Come and I will give you rest for your soul…” You may think that your life has no value because of the abuse you have suffered but Jesus sees value in you. Though you may have been robbed of promotion and denied positions everyone knew you deserved, Jesus has not rejected you.

Jesus is inviting you to Himself tax-free. Whether you have your original set of teeth or fabricated dentures, He welcomes you. Come with your imperfections and see for yourself that He is the Great I Am. Come and witness with your eyes and ears that He is the Resurrection and the Life. Come and you will hear something you have never heard before and see something you have never seen before. Come and be refreshed in His love for He has chosen you for supernatural events.
