It was reported in last weekend’s Voice Newspaper that four male individuals from Grande Riviere, Gros Islet, were arrested on Thursday May 16th for the possession of illegal arms and drugs. The arrests were made after Police executed a search warrant which was issued for a residence in Grande Riviere, Gros Islet.
A 9mm berretta pistol, fourteen rounds of ammunition and a quantity of illicit drugs were discovered. One individual sustained gunshot injuries during the search and is reported to be in a stable condition. The other three individuals were taken into police custody.
So far, three of the men, all residents of Grande Riviere, have been charged for various offences in connection with this incident. Seventeen year old Francis Popo and twenty year olds Kevin Adonis and Rakim Joseph were all charged for the possession of a firearm and ammunition without a valid license, and for the possession of controlled drugs.
The three individuals were escorted to the First District Court on Friday May 17th, where they were granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 for the illegal possession of a firearm, $2000.00 for the illegal Possession of Ammunition, and $500.00 for possession of controlled drugs. The fourth individual, whose identity was not disclosed, is said to be admitted at a local medical facility. The three men who were granted bail are expected to return to court on Wednesday, June 12th, 2019.
