Teams Gearing Up for Masters Football Showcase

WITH exactly three weeks to go plans are well under way for the much anticipated staging of the Saint Lucia International Masters Football Invitational organized by Veterans In Sports Inc.

The event has been dubbed the ‘Big Bash’ as Veterans In Sports Inc. and the Saint Lucia Football Association have teamed up with Caribbean Alliance, Saint Lucia Distillers, Peter and Company Distribution, Digicel and KFC to host the inaugural event.

The Invitational season kicks off today (Saturday 18th May) at the Gros Islet Playing Field where two touring teams, RUM FC of New York, and Port of Spain Corp of Trinidad will play in a mini soccermania with four local teams, namely, Gros Islet Veterans, VSADC, All Blacks of Dennery and Caricom Masters.

The action kicks off from 5.00 pm on Saturday 18th May.

According to CEO of Veterans In Sports Inc, Alvin Malaykhan, the event is geared towards a buildup of the major event scheduled to kick off on Saturday 8th June 2019. On show will be the Little Magician, Russell Latapy and Trinidad and Tobago former International and goal scoring machine Arnold Dwarika.

Veterans In Sports Inc. are expecting to relive one of the Caribbean’s biggest rivalries between former internationals goal scoring champions Earl Ball Hog Jean and Arnold Dwarika.

Not to be left out, the inaugural event will be graced by Saint Lucia’s very own Titus Elva, Elijah Joseph, Alvin Xavier, Valencious Joseph, Leyton Sandiford and Trevor Cadette.

Also making an appearance at the event will be the likes of Gary Glasgow, Stern John and Denis Lawrence, who scored the goal against Bahrain that awarded Trinidad and Tobago a ticket to the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

All are expected to be in Saint Lucia over the Whitsuntide weekend.
