The hand-over ceremony was held yesterday at the Prime Minister’s office. The cheques over the years have amounted to millions of dollars. One cheque represented the second phase of works under the CDP for last year. The other was for the first phase of works for this year. This is the 12th year of the programme which to date has completed over 2400 projects in the various communities on island and created jobs for thousands of Saint Lucians.

Ambassador Cheng took the opportunity to speak of his country’s delight at assisting in improving the lives of Saint Lucians through these donations to the CDP which have gone into pedestrian footpaths, flood mitigation, drainage, soil stabilization, school and road rehabilitation, and in some cases construction, the latter inclusive of bus stations.
