SLFA Football: Black Panthers Southern Zone U11 and U13 Champions

Black Panthers from Soufriere (Sulphur City) waltzed away with both Age Group championships of the Saint Lucia Football Association Inc. Southern Zone Under- 11 and Under- 13 inter-club tournament at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds (Vieux Fort) on Sunday 5th May, witnessed by a very appreciative crowd.

In the U-11 played between Black Panthers and Shamballa, despite both teams exhibiting attacking and counter-attacking football neither were able to break the deadlock as the half ended goalless.

Following the resumption Black Panthers emerged the more determined team and was rewarded with a Kailon Flavius hat trick which floored their opponents 3 – 0.

For his feat Kailon Flavius was adjudged MVP of the Finals.

In the second finals the U-13s Black Panthers team made the going extremely tough for the young Uptown Rebels (Vieux Fort) as they sent them packing 5 – 1.

From the opening whistle, it was constant pressure by the young Panthers who enjoyed the exchanges as they went into the dressing room with a 2 – 0 advantage at the half time whistle. Maniche Pierre Louis opened the scoring in the 25th minute, with Germarly Emanus scoring the other in the 30th minute.

Following the break there was no letting up as Cy Alcindor soon made it 3 – 0. There was no recovery for Uptown who were soon 4 – 0 down with Maniche Pierre Louis’s second goal.

Jonathan Mentor reduced the deficit in the 65th minute only to see Eymani Butcher scoring a scorcher to completely seal the initiative 5 – 1.

In the U-11 category, Kailon Flavius of Black Panthers was adjudged MVP of the Finals, while Emanyi Butcher also from Black Panthers received the MVP in the U-13 Category.

By virtue of getting to the finals in the South Zone, Black Panthers and Uptown have qualified for the National U-13 quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the semifinals of the Western Zone Total Construction Football competition took place on Sunday 5th May 2019 at the Marigot Playing Field.

In the first game T Valley FC defeated RV Juniors 1 – 0, while 1987 All Stars got the better of CT Foundation FC 2 – 1 in the other game.

The grand finals will now be played this coming Sunday 12th May at the Marigot Playing Field from 4.00 p.m. between 1987 All Stars and T Valley FC.

Prior to this the Third Place Play Off between RV Juniors and CT Foundation will be played at 2.00 pm.

In the north of the Island, the fifth round of the 2019 SLFA Northern Zone Youth Under- 11 tournament resulted in some interesting matchups, with top of the table clashes in both Groups A and B.

The result saw Lancers and Northern getting the better of their opponents VSADC and Valley Soccer respectively.

The results of the weekend games are as follows:

Northern defeated Valley Soccer 3 – 0, with their goal scorers being Trylan Henry in the 10th   minute, Devonte Herman in the 19th minute and Thierry Morille in the 26th minute.

Lancers FC got by VSADC 4 – 0. They owed their victory to goals by a brace from Keenan Joseph in the 21st and 23rd minute, Kwan St. Luce in the 30th minute and Torres Harris in the 34th minute.

Monchy FC enjoyed a 3 – 0 victory over Flames United, with Shan Louison scoring a brace in the 17th and 38th minute and Jadon Morille in the 10th minute.

Pioneers FC got the better of B1 FC 2 – 0, with goals from Jaiden Emmanuel in the 20th minute and Enrique Robert in the 40th minute.
