Professionals (NALIP) celebrates April 2019 as National Library and Information Month under the theme “Libraries and Information Services on the Move: Enhancing Communities through Connections & Collaboration.”
This year’s observance seeks to give more visibility to the Association (NALIP) and its work within the communities. The schedule of activities is as follows:
Friday March 29th 2019- Launch of Book Review Competition
• 200-250 word review of book “Green Days by the River” by Michael Anthony
• Open to Students age 12-15 years
• Deadline for Submissions April 30th 2019
Monday April 1st and 2nd 2019- Showcase of films adapted from classical books
• Moby Dick- Vieux Fort Library 10am
• Huckleberry Finn- Central Library 10am
Monday April 8th, 2019- Opening Ceremony (Ministry of Infrastructure Conference Room, Union)
• Prize Giving Ceremony for Book Review Competition
• Retreat
Tuesday April 9th 2019
• Literary Day- Soufriere Library 2pm
• Get to know your Librarian- individual libraries island-wide
Wednesday April 10th- Library & Information Worker Appreciation Day
• Church Service- Micoud Pentecostal Church 10am
• Lunch- Fox Grove Inn
Thursday April 11th- Symposium
• Library and Information workers and other stakeholders are invited to a symposium at the Central Library, Castries (9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.)
Friday April 12th 2019- Community Outreach
• Uptown Gardens Girls Centre Library Project
• Dennery Library Upgrade
• Canaries Literacy Project
Friday April 26th, 2019- Writing & Publishing Workshop
• Central Library Reading Room 9:00am-4:30pm
• Target: Secondary School Students, Poets, Playwrights, Budding Novelists, Short Story Writers, Journalists, and sanyone who wishes to pursue a career in writing & publishing
• Facilitators: Renown & Reputable Writers & Publishers
• Certificates will be awarded to participants
