Negotiations between the Management of the National Farmers and General Workers Cooperative Credit Union and the National Workers Union (NWU) have been concluded.
Technical and clerical workers employed with the financial entity’s operations in Vieux Fort, Castries and Bois d’Orange will now benefit from a new industrial accord. Workers will receive a salary adjustment of $300. This will be gradual, $100 per month in Years One, Two and Three respectively. There is also an upgrade in travel and mileage allowances. Back pay will be effective from January 2018.
Secretary-General of the NWU and Portfolio Representative Johann Harewood said that the new initiative by the NWU to gradually get rid of across the board percentage increases on salaries in favour of adjustments is now being accepted by many employers.
The new agreement will run for a period of three years and will be signed shortly.
