ON Thursday March 7, 2019, Babonneau Police conducted a School Safety Sensitization Exercise at the Babonneau Secondary School. This initiative was facilitated by Sergeant ShervonMatthieu, writer of the book ‘Personal Safety’, a compendium of practical strategies which can be employed to ensure security. The exercise comes at a time when stakeholders are seeking to find solutions to address security concerns within educational institutions. During the well-received session, Sergeant Matthieu sought to engage teaching and administrative staff in discussions concerning school structure and emergency protocols. Staff received copies of Sergeant Matthieu’s book after the exercise. The Babonneau Secondary School staff is expected to participate in a similar initiative with the Babonneau Fire Station.
