PRESS RELEASE – AN industrial row is brewing between the Management of Bank of Nova Scotia and the National Workers Union (NWU).
The NWU is extremely concerned that negotiations between the Bank and the NWU which commenced early 2018 have not been concluded. The NWU has also conveyed its displeasure over the manner in which Management paid out Merit Increases for the period 2017-2018.
Traditionally appraisals were undertaken to determine employee performance for a certain period. In 2018 the Bank paid out Merit Increases to its upper level Management Staff while those who are within the National Workers Union Bargaining Unit did not receive any.
A general meeting will soon be held at which a firm collective decision will be made. The NWU has also sought the conciliation services of the Department of Labour.
