The activity is open to the public.
The Award is named for two outstanding sons of the Vieux Fort community and aims to develop in the youth an appreciation of the societal contributions of those who went before, and challenges students of primary and secondary schools in the south to use their literary skills of poetry, essay writing and short story as a vehicle to focus away from drugs, crime and other negatives.
Awardees will receive the Cohen & Bruce Williams Literary Award trophy, tablets, cash and other gifts.
This year’s 1st place winner takes home a package worth close to $1,500!
In recognition of the 100th birthday of “Daddy Bruce”, a special $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student of the community, as identified by the school.
This year’s ceremony is hosted under the distinguished patronage of Dame Pearlette Louisy, former Governor General of Saint Lucia. (Modeste Downes)
