THE Desruisseaux playing field came alive on Sunday 23rd September with the opening game in the 2018 Desruisseaux Football League Knockout Tournament between Diamond Ballers and Lion Heart.
Diamond Ballers finalist in the recently concluded Promotional League took the lead in the 14th minute with a goal from their leading goal scorer Lamar Serieux. This led to an off the field celebration by their supporters which short lived as Lance Sammy got the equaliser for Lion Heart in the 19th minute.
Diamond ballers went ahead with a goal from Linus Alexander on the stroke of the half time whistle to make it 2-1 and in a strong position to win the encounter in front of their home support.
On the resumption it was Diamond Ballers who nosed ahead for the second time in the encounter to make the game 3-1 with a goal from Cyrus Faulkner in the 70th.
With the time ticking away Diamond Ballers thought they had the game in the bag and in the process they brought on some fresh legs, but this move proved to be costly, as two quick goals were scored by Lion Heart in the 85th by Lance Sammy and Zackerie Joseph in the 88th sending the game into a penalty shootout.
Following the ensuing penalty shootout, Lion Heart won 4-2.
